Tuakau

Tuakau is a town in the Auckland region, (formerly part of the Waikato Region and Franklin District until the creation of the Auckland Council in 2010) in the North Island of New Zealand. The town is the site of the Franklin Zoo. The town serves to support local farming, and is the residence of many employees of New Zealand Steel at Glenbrook. The main primary school is Tuakau Primary, where Sir Edmund Hillary was educated. There is also Harrisville Primary, at the top of Harrisville Hill.

Pokeno

Pokeno is a small town in New Zealand, located 50 kilometres southeast of Auckland. State Highway 1 originally ran through the town, but the upgrading of the highway in 1992 to expressway standards mean that the town has been bypassed. Pokeno was an important site during the New Zealand Wars of the 19th century, being the site of the Queen's Redoubt, a major colonial military headquarters.

Pukekohe Park Raceway

Although Pukekohe Park Raceway is better known internationally as a motor racing circuit, it is primarily a horse racing circuit in New Zealand. It is located 40 kilometres south of Auckland City in the North Island. The track is now owned by Pukekohe Park Limited. It was opened in 1963 as a permanent track, replacing Ardmore (an aerodrome) as the host circuit of the New Zealand Grand Prix.

Bombay Hills

The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Though only a small and seemingly insignificant range of hills, they lie at the southern boundary of the Auckland region, and serve as a divide between Auckland and the Waikato region. There is a 19th century settlement, Bombay, on the old main road south of Auckland, the Great South Road. Aucklanders and other New Zealanders have a mostly light-hearted "love-hate" relationship.
