The stadium has a seating capacity of 16,000, making it the largest stadium in Azad Kashmir. On 11 July 2008 Azad Jammu & Kashmir government handed over the Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Stadium to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for holding national and international cricket matches in the stadium.

Dhangri is a small village situated near Chakswari in the Mirpur District of Azad Kashmir. The closest airport is ISB - Islamabad Chaklala, located 87.7 km north of Dhangri.
