Lake Junín

Lake Junín, known as Lago Junín in Spanish and Chinchaycocha ("Northern Lake") in Quechua, is the largest lake entirely within Peru. Even though Lake Titicaca has a much larger area, its eastern half is located on Bolivian territory. Located at approximately 4,082 metres above sea level, Lake Junín is an important birdwatching destination in the country.

Chacamarca Historical Sanctuary

The Chacamarca Historical Sanctuary (Santuario Histórico de Chacamarca) is a 2500-hectare historical site within the Junín Region in the central highlands of Peru. The sanctuary protects the site of the 1824 Battle of Junín and the archaeological remains of the Pampus culture.
