Freitas (Portugal)

Freitas is a village in Northern Portugal. It is the seat of an eponymous "freguesia" (Portuguese for civil parish), which in turn is part of the "concelho" (municipality) of Fafe. The civil parish has an area 6,24 km², with 745 inhabitants for a density of 119,4 people/km² (2001 census). The first lord of the village, a contemporary of the first king of Portugal, around 1164, became known as João das Freitas, hence initiating the surname Freitas.

Parque Municipal dos Desportos de Fafe

Parque Municipal dos Desportos de Fafe is a multi-use stadium in Fafe, Portugal. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of AD Fafe. The stadium is able to hold 8,000 people. They built this stadium for the city for sport in 1968 and uses for AD Fafe to get into the Portuguese First Division.

Guimarães Castle

Castelo de Guimarães (English: Guimarães Castle), located in the city of Guimarães, Portugal, was ordered to be built by Dona Mumadona Dias in the 10th century in order to defend its monastery from Muslim and Norman attacks. Count Dom Henrique (to whom the County of Portugal had been granted) chose Guimarães to establish his court. The fortress, then over a century old, needed urgent renovation.

Ave Subregion

Ave is a subregion integrated in the larger Norte Region, Portugal. It is bordered to the north by Cávado Subregion, to the east and south by Tâmega Subregion and to the west by Grande Porto Subregion. It is a densely populated subregion and one of the more industrialized in the country. Part of the historical region of Minho, it is centered around the historic city of Guimarães (the birthplace of the Portuguese nationalism).

Estádio D. Afonso Henriques

The Estádio D. Afonso Henriques is a football stadium in the city of Guimarães, Portugal. The stadium is home of Guimarães's most successful team, Vitória de Guimarães, presently completing in the top-flight Portuguese Liga. The stadium was built in 1965 and was renovated and expanded in 2003 for the UEFA Euro 2004 tournament by architect Eduardo Guimarães. Estádio D.
