Bârsa River (Olt)

The Bârsa River is a tributary of the Olt River in Romania. It starts at the junction of two headwaters: Bârsa Groşetului and Bârsa Tămaşului. As several tributaries also have the name Bârsa, in order to differentiate them, the main course of the river is frequently referred to as Bârsa Mare.

Feldioara

Feldioara is a Romanian commune located in Transylvania, very close to Braşov (about 10 miles or 15 kilometers). It is composed of three villages: Colonia Reconstrucţia (Bohntelep), Feldioara and Rotbav (Rothbach; Szászveresmart). At the 2011 census, 88.8% of inhabitants were Romanians, 6.9% Hungarians and 3.5% Roma. It has a medieval fortress long believed to have been built by the Teutonic Knights.

Bod, Brașov

Bod is a commune in Braşov County, Romania. It is composed of two villages, Bod and Colonia Bod. At Bod there is one of Romania's largest sugar factories and a broadcasting transmitter for long- and medium-wave radio, the Bod Transmitter. In Bod, the lowest ever recorded temperature in Romania, -38.5 degrees Celsius (-37 Fahrenheit), was measured in January 1942. At the 2011 census, 89.6% of inhabitants were Romanians, 8.5% Hungarians and 1.1% Germans.

Bod Transmitter

The Bod Transmitter (also known as the Braşov Transmitter) is the name of the transmitter facility for the central longwave radio station near Bod, Romania. It was designed by the engineer Cartianu Popescu and built in 1933/34. It currently operates on a frequency of 153 kHz with an output power of 1200 kW (although this value may not be used). It uses as its antenna a T-antenna hung up on two 250 metre tall guyed masts.
