Monino Airfield

Monino Airfield is a former air base in Moscow Oblast, Russia located 36 km east of Moscow. It is used for the Central Air Force Museum. It had a military technical school with an operations ramp which during the 1990s had an Ilyushin Il-76 freighter jet and two bombers. This airfield appears to be abandoned with unusable runways.

The Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC) is a Russian training facility responsible for training cosmonauts for their space missions. It is the first cosmonaut training facility in Russia. It is located in Star City, Russia—a name which may refer to the facility itself and to the grounds on which it is located.

Star City, Russia

Star City (Russian: Звёздный городо́к, Zvyozdny gorodok) is a common name of an area in Moscow Oblast, Russia, which has since the 1960s been home to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC). Officially, the area was known as "closed military townlet No.  1" and at various times had also been designated as Shchyolkovo-14 (Щёлково-14) and Zvyozdny (Звёздный).

Chkalovsky Airport

Chkalovsky Airport, is a military airport base near Shchyolkovo, Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located 31 km northeast of Moscow. Chkalovsky provides air support for Star City, Russia, Yuri Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center, and other elements of the Soviet space program and Russian Federal Space Agency.

Central Air Force Museum

The Central Air Force Museum in Monino at the site of Monino Airfield 40km east of Moscow, Russia, is one of the world's largest aviation museums, and the largest for Russian aircraft. 173 aircraft and 127 aircraft engines are on display, and the museum also features collections of weapons, instruments, uniforms, other Cold War-era US spy equipment, artwork, and other air-related items. A library containing books, films, and photos is also accessible to visitors. Tours are given by ex-pilots.
