Novomichurinsk was founded in 1968 and granted town status in 1981. It is named after Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin, who was born not far from this town. Now Novomichurinsk is a company town of Ryazan Power Station.

Ryazhsk

Ryazhsk is town and the administrative center of Ryazhsky District of Ryazan Oblast, Russia, located 115 kilometers south of Ryazan. Population: 21,674; 22,850; 27,217; 26,000 (1974). It has been known to exist since 1502. In the late 16th century, it was a part of the Great Abatis Border and guarded the Ryazhsk portage from the Don to the Oka River.
