Novocherkassk Cathedral

The Ascension Cathedral (Вознесенский собор) is a Russian Orthodox church in Novocherkassk, Rostov Oblast, Russia. It used to be one of the largest churches of the Russian Empire and the main church of the Don Host Province. The five-domed building, which stands 75 meters tall, is a notable example of the Russian Neo-Byzantine architecture. It was erected between 1891 and 1904 on the site of an earlier church. The first church on the site was built to Luigi Rusca's designs.

Don Republic

The Don Republic, later known as the Almighty Don Host (Ukrainian: Всевелике Військо Донське Vsevelike Viysko Donske ;Russian: Всевеликое Войско Донское Vsevelikoe Voisko Donskoe), was an anti-Bolshevik state formed during the Russian Civil War after the collapse of the Russian Empire. It was also the name of two organizations formed in the 1990s. The independence was proclaimed by the assembly of Don Cossacks called the Krug on May 18, 1918.
