Seolmacheon

The Seolmacheon in South Korea is a tributary of the Imjin River, which it joins at Jeokseong, and it was on Gloster Hill, between the two rivers, that the British Gloucestershire Regiment suffered defeat at the hands of the Chinese in the Battle of the Imjin River, a major event in the Korean War, from 22–25 April 1951. There is a permanent memorial here (37°56'33.78"N, 126°56'21.00"E) and the British Embassy in Seoul organises a service here every April to commemorate the event.

Battle of the Imjin River

For the similarly named battle during the Seven-Year War, see Battle of Imjin River (1592). The Battle of the Imjin River, also known as the Battles of Kumgul-san, P'ap'yong-san and Solma-ri or the Battle of Xuemali, took place 22–25 April 1951 during the Korean War. Forces from People’s Republic of China attacked UN positions on the lower Imjin River in an attempt to achieve a breakthrough and recapture the South Korean capital Seoul.

Dongducheonjungang Station

Jihaeng Station

Jihaeng Station (Station 104) is a ground-level metro station on Line 1 of the Seoul Subway in Jihaeng-dong, Dongducheon, South Korea. It opened on January 30, 2005 to services on the Gyeongwon Line and services on the Seoul Metropolitan Subway began calling here on December 15, 2006. The station offers access to Dongducheon Foreign Language High School, Central Middle and High School, Jihaeng Elementary School, Science Tower and Songnae-dong Office, among other places.
