Jinju

Jinju is a city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It was the location of the first (1592) and second (1593) Sieges of Jinju by Japanese forces during the Imjin War. The Republic of Korea Air Force Education and Training Command is located in the eastern part of the city. There are cultural-historical tourist attractions in Jinju such as Jinju Castle, the Jinju National Museum, and the Nam-gang Prehistoric Site Museum.

Jinju National Museum

Jinju National Museum is a national museum located in the Jinju fortress (진주성 晉州城), Jinju, South Korea. It opened in February 1984 with the purpose to specialize the theme of Imjinwaeran.

Jinju Station

Jinju Station is a railway station in Jinju, South Korea and is a stop along the Gyeongjeon Line. The station consists of a small two storey station has a small retail area on the ground floor. Near the station is an old brick train shed. A small train yards lies next to the station. The station serves regular passenger rail service by Korail with plans to provide KTX highspeed service in the future.

Sancheong-Hamyang massacre

The Sancheong and Hamyang massacre was a massacre conducted by a unit of the South Korean Army 11th Division during the Korean War. On 7 February 1951, 705 unarmed citizens in Sancheong and Hamyang, South Gyeongsang district of South Korea were killed. The victims were civilians and 85% of them were women, children and elderly people. The 11th Division also conducted Geochang massacre two days later. The division commanding general was Choe Deok-sin.
