Borlänge Municipality

Borlänge Municipality (Borlänge kommun) is a municipality in Dalarna County in central Sweden, with an area of 586.4 km². The municipality has a population of 47,640 (2007). The municipal seat is Borlänge. The present municipality was created in 1971 when the City of Borlänge (itself instituted as a city in 1944) was reunited with the rural municipality of Stora Tuna, from which it had been detached in 1898.

Runn

Runn, is a lake in Dalarna in central Sweden, between the cities of Falun and Borlänge. Runn has many islands and is popular for recreational boating in the summer. In winter, Runn is popular for Tour skating and over 30 km of skating trails are plowed on the ice. Every February, 'Runn Winter Week' is held with many ice skating activities, including marathon Speed skating competitions.

Great Copper Mountain

Great Copper Mountain was a mine in Falun, Sweden, that operated for a millennium from the 10th century to 1992. It produced as much as two thirds of Europe's copper needs and helped fund many of Sweden's wars in the 17th century. Technological developments at the mine had a profound influence on mining globally for two centuries. Since 2001 it has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site as well as a museum.
