The summit area is quite flat, and it has a lookout tower which affords a view over the Småland landscape. With a height of 377 meters, Tomtabacken is the highest point in Småland province and in the southern land of Götaland.

Komstad
Komstad is a village in the former Norra Ljunga Parish, Småland, Sweden, suited about 4 km west of Sävsjö town. It is an old village, mentioned in historical records as early as 1370. From this village came Jonas Bronck who gave name to The Bronx, New York, USA. Komstad was previously the location for the parish's Thing and was the main village in Västra Härad (western part of Njudung). But when the railroad was constructed in the 1860s, nearby Sävsjö became the new main town in the region.

Two years later it was completed when Hjälmseryd was added.
