Creux du Van

The Creux du Van is a natural rocky cirque of approximately 1,400 metres of width and 150 metres of depth on the north side of Le Soliat. It is located in the Val de Travers district, in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. A very well known, amphitheatre-shaped natural attraction of the area, it is located at the heart of a nature reservation area of 15.5 km².

Val-de-Travers District

Val-de-Travers District is a district in the canton of Neuchâtel, in Switzerland. It is famous for its clock industry. It is also famous for being the historical birthplace of absinthe which is now once again being distilled in the region. La Clandestine Absinthe was one of the first new local brands to emerge officially in 2005 and claims that the micro-climate is a key factor in the quality of its ingredients. It has a population of 11,980 (as of 31 December 2011).
