Amuda

Amuda is a town in Al Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria. Amuda has a mostly Kurdish population with a significant Assyrian population. On November 13, 1960, the village was the site of a tragedy in which 152 children were killed in a fire at a movie theatre. As of 20th July 2012, the area has come under the control of the Popular Protection Units (commonly known as YPG).

Qamishli

Qamishli is a city in north eastern Syria on the border with Turkey, adjoining the Turkish city of Nusaybin, and close to Iraq. It is part of the Al-Hasakah Governorate, and is the administrative capital of the Qamishli District within the governorate.
