The 2012 Syrian–Turkish border clashes began on 3 October 2012 when an artillery shell fired from Syria killed five and injured at least ten Turkish citizens in the border town of Akçakale in Şanlıurfa Province, Turkey. Karbeyaz is a town in Altınözü district of Hatay Province, Turkey. Karbeyaz is situated close to Syrian border at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|00|N|36|16|E||| | |name= }}. The distance to Altınözü is 19 kilometres and to Antakya (central city of the province) is 45 kilometres . The population of the town is 1584 as of 2010.
