Shengxing Station

Shengxing Station (勝興車站) was a railway station of Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) Western Line in Miaoli County, Taiwan. This Station was closed on September 24, 1998 due to route change of the trunk line. It is now a tourist spot surrounded by a cluster of tea shops and traditional Hakka restaurants.

1935 Hsinchu-Taichung earthquake

The 1935 Hsinchu-Taichung earthquake (Chinese: 1935年新竹台中地震; pinyin: 1935 nián Xīnzhú-Táizhōng Dìzhèn or Chinese: 1935年中部大地震; pinyin: 1935 Nián Zhōngbù Dà Dìzhèn; literally Great 1935 Central Taiwan Earthquake) was a magnitude 7.1 earthquake which occurred on April 21, 1935, with its epicentre in Sanyi (三義), Miaoli County, Taiwan. It was the deadliest earthquake in Taiwan's recorded history, claiming 3,276 lives and causing extensive damage.
