Hamadoni District

Hamadoni District is a district in the south-east of Khatlon Province of Tajikistan, located south of Kulob and stretching along a section of the Panj on the border with Afghanistan. Population 123,800 (2007 data). Between 1950 and 2004 called Moskovskiy District, then renamed in honor of Mir Said Ali Hamadoni, a 14th century Persian poet and scholar who is buried in Khatlon. The district capital is Moskovskiy or Moskva .

Moskovskiy

Moskovskiy or Moskva is a location in Tajikistan. It is the administrative capital of Hamadoni district in Khatlon Province, located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:37|39|24|N|69|37|45|E| | |name= }}. Its population is 20,700 (1 January 2008 est.). Internet sources often identify Moskovskiy with Chubek, but in fact this is another village in the district, located about 5 km south-east from Moskva {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:37|36|46|N|69|42|22|E| | |name= }}).
