Trinidad

Trinidad is the larger and more populous of the two major islands and numerous landforms which make up the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. It is the southernmost island in the Caribbean and lies just 11 km off the northeastern coast of Venezuela. With an area of 4,768 km it is also the fifth largest in the West Indies. Many believe the original name for the island in the Arawaks' language was "Iëre" which meant "Land of the Humming Bird".

Caroni-Arena Dam

The Caroni-Arena Dam is the largest dam in Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in the Arena Forest Reserve, south of Arima, in the eastern Caroni Plains. WASA supplies water to areas of central Trinidad by purifying the water from the dam. It was opened in the late 70s/early 80s.

Central Range, Trinidad and Tobago

The Central Range is a mountain range on the island of Trinidad. It extends diagonally across the island and is a low-lying range with swampy areas rising to rolling hills. The tallest hills are Mount Tamana (307 m), Mount Harris and Brigand Hill, all located in the northeastern portion of the range. The range is a folded anticlinal uplift consisting of Cretaceous and Eocene rocks, with Miocene formations along the southern and eastern flanks.

Cumuto

Cumuto is a town and district in Trinidad. Cumuto is west of Sangre Grande and south of Arima. Between 1940 and 1956 much of Cumuto was part of the American army base known either as Fort Read or Wallerfield; the area was leased to the United States as part of the Destroyers for Bases Agreement. Cumuto houses places of worship to all religious groups.
