Mahala Lagoon

Mahala Lagoon is a small salty lagoon in the Tuzly Lagoons group. The total area is 76 ha. It is located west of the Shagany Lagoon, near the village Tryhatky, Tatarbunary Raion of Odessa Oblast. From the Shagany Lagoon it is separated by a sandbar. The name of the lagoon originates from Arabic mähallä, from the root meaning "to settle", "to occupy".

Shagany Lagoon

Shagany Lagoon is a salty lagoon on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine in Tatarbunary Raion of Odessa Oblast. The lagoon is in the complex of Tuzly Lagoons, connected with the Alibey Lagoon. The area of the water body is 70 km², salinity is about 30‰. The lagoon is separated from the Black Sea by a sandbar.

Sasyk Lagoon

Sasyk, or Kunduk (Romanian: Limanul Sasic, Conduc, Turkish: Sasık Gölü, Kunduk Gölü), is a lagoon or liman in southern Ukraine, near the Danube delta. It is a Ramsar listed wetland site important for migrating, breeding and moulting birds. About 25,000 pairs of wetland birds make their nests there and seasonal conglomerations of birds are up to 100,000 individuals. The area of the lagoon is 210 km, and the depth up to 3.9 m.

Tatarbunary

Tatarbunary is a small town in the Odessa Oblast of south-western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Tatarbunarskyi Raion, and is located north of the Danube Delta, in Budjak area, approximately 100 kilometers south-west of the oblast center, Odessa. The word "Tatarbunary" means "Tatar Wells" in South Slavic languages, with "bunar" borrowed from Turkic "pınar", "well". The name Tatarbunar is mentioned by Dimitrie Cantemir in his work Descriptio Moldaviae (1714-1716).
