Bentworth

Bentworth is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of the County of Hampshire, England, about 4 miles northwest of the town of Alton, just west of the A339 road between Alton and Basingstoke. The Civil Parish of Bentworth has an area of 3,763 acres . The village of Bentworth itself is in the centre of the Civil Parish, which also contains the hamlets of Ashley, Burkham, Holt End, Thedden and Wivelrod.

Wield

Wield is a civil parish in Hampshire, England, within the district of East Hampshire. It includes two neighbouring villages, Upper Wield and Lower Wield. The parish council meets quarterly at the parish hall in Upper Wield. Wield as a civil parish is separate from the church parish. The parish church, dedicated to St James, is also in Upper Wield. It is mainly Norman, and is a Grade I listed building.

Alton College

Alton College is a sixth form college located in Alton, Hampshire, England. As well as being a sixth form, the college provides an adult education service to the local population as well as catering for students with disabilities from nearby Treloar College. It was built in 1978 and was one of the first institutions in the UK to be a purpose-built sixth form college.

Battle of Alton

The Battle of Alton (also Storm of Alton), of the First English Civil War, took place on 13 December 1643 in the town of Alton, Hampshire, England. There, Parliamentary forces serving under Sir William Waller led a successful surprise attack on a winter garrison of Royalist infantry and cavalry serving under the Earl of Crawford.

First Battle of Alton

The First Battle of Alton was a skirmish in 1001 between the English and the Vikings. According to the Anglo Saxon Chronicle it took place at somewhere called, in Old English, Æthelingadene. Traditionally, the site was believed to have been what is now Alton, Hampshire. However, it is thought more likely to have been in the East and West Dean area of modern day West Sussex.
