Gartree Hundred

Gartree was a hundred of Leicestershire. It was in the south-east of the county, roughly corresponding to today's Harborough district. The town of Market Harborough was its largest settlement. It gives its name to HMP Gartree, and also to the Gartree electoral division of Leicestershire.

Great Bowden

Great Bowden is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. It is north-east of and a suburb of Market Harborough, although originally the parish of Great Bowden included Harborough. The population is around 1,000. It is the site of Great Bowden Hall. The village was included in the Domesday Book, under the name 'Bugedone' and was worth 40 shillings per year to the King, who held it.

A508 road

The A508 is a short A-class road for north/south journeys in south central England, forming the route from Market Harborough in Leicestershire, via Northampton, to Old Stratford, north-west of Milton Keynes. The road begins in the centre of Market Harborough and crosses into Northamptonshire just outside the town. Crossing the A14 at Kelmarsh, it continues on through the centre of Northampton, merging with the A5199 as it enters the town.

Harborough

Harborough is a local government district of Leicestershire, England, named after its main town, Market Harborough. Covering 230 square miles, the District is by far the largest of the eight district authorities in Leicestershire and covers almost a quarter of the County.

Market Harborough Rural District

The rural district of Market Harborough existed in Leicestershire, England, from 1894 to 1974. It covered the area around Market Harborough, but not including it. It was greatly extended by the abolition of Hallaton Rural District in 1935. In 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 it merged with Harborough urban district, Billesdon Rural District, Lutterworth Rural District to form the Harborough non-metropolitan district.
