The Looe Estuary is an estuary in the southeastern part of Cornwall in south-west England, which leads to the mouth of the River Looe in Looe Bay. The town of Looe sits on the west and east side of the estuary.

River Looe

The River Looe (Cornish: Logh, meaning deep water inlet) is a river in south-east Cornwall, which flows into the English Channel at Looe. It has two main branches, the East Looe River and the West Looe River. The eastern tributary has its source near St Cleer and flows south, passing close to the western outskirts of Liskeard. The western tributary has its source near Dobwalls. South of Liskeard, the Looe Valley Line railway follows the course of the river to Looe.

Looe Island

Looe Island (Cornish: Enys Lann-Managh, meaning island of the monk's enclosure), also known as St George's Island, and historically St Michael's Island is a small island a mile from the mainland town of Looe in Cornwall, United Kingdom. According to local legend, Joseph of Arimathea landed here with the child Christ. Others have identified the island as Ictis, the location described by Diodorus Siculus as a centre for the tin trade in pre-Roman Britain.

Monkey Sanctuary

The Monkey Sanctuary was founded in 1964 by Len Williams, father of John Williams (guitarist), as a cooperative to care for rescued woolly monkeys. Based in Looe, Cornwall, England, the sanctuary is home to woolly monkeys that are descended from the original rescued pets, a growing number of capuchin monkeys rescued from the current UK pet trade, and a small group of rescued Barbary macaques.
