21st World Scout Jamboree

The 21st World Scout Jamboree was held in July and August 2007, and formed a part of the Scouting 2007 Centenary celebrations of the world Scout Movement. The event was hosted by the United Kingdom, as 2007 marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of Scouting on Brownsea Island. The event was held for 12 days between 27 July and 8 August, in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex.

Hylands House is a Grade II* neo-classical villa situated within Hylands Park a 232-hectare park south-west of Chelmsford in Essex in South East England. It is owned and operated by Chelmsford City Council.

Ingatestone Hall

Ingatestone Hall is a Grade I listed 16th-century manor house in Essex, England some 5 miles (8km) south west of Chelmsford. It was built by Sir William Petre, and his descendants live in the house to this day. The building comprises three wings (north, east and south) around a central court. Originally there was also a west range. The Hall has two priest holes. Among the priests to have been at the hall was St. John Payne who was executed in 1582.

2MT

2MT was the first British radio station to make regular entertainment broadcasts, and the world's first regular wireless broadcast for entertainment. Transmissions began on 14 February 1922 from an ex-Army hut next to the Marconi laboratories at Writtle, near Chelmsford in Essex. Initially the station only had 200 watts and transmitted on 700m (428 kHz) on Tuesdays from 2000 to 2030. Two Emma Toc, in the spelling alphabet of the day, was a surprising success.
