Heale's Lock is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, between Thatcham and Woolhampton, Berkshire, England. Heale's Lock was built between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of the engineer John Hore of Newbury. The canal is administered by British Waterways. The lock has a rise/fall of 8 ft 11 in (2.72 m). , and was originally a turf lock, being rebuilt as a conventional lock in the late 1980s.

Douai Abbey

Douai Abbey is a Benedictine Abbey at Woolhampton, near Thatcham, in the English county of Berkshire, situated within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth. Monks from the monastery of St. Edmund's, in Douai, France, came to Woolhampton in 1903 when the community left France as a result of anti-clerical legislation. The abbey church is a grade II* listed building, and the gatehouse, hall and three blocks of buildings are grade II listed.

Bullingdon Hundred

Bullingdon is an ancient hundred in the south-east of the county of Oxfordshire. The hundred used to include villages such as Cuddesdon, Garsington, the Baldons and Milton. However, the hundred was changed by the nineteenth century to conform more regularly with council wards and today it covers the area of several ancient hundreds, occupying most of south-central Oxon. The primary use of the hundred area today is for census data.
