Petton is a small village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It was mentioned in Domesday as "Peetone", a name probably derived from Old English paec-tun, "settlement by the hill". Petton is near to the village and parish of Cockshutt. The two parishes have in recent years combined their parish councils under the name Cockshutt-cum-Petton.

It is Anglo Saxon in origin and means 'west farm'. Weston Lullingfields was a terminus of a branch of the Ellesmere Canal known as the Weston Branch. The canal was originally intended to continue on to Shrewsbury, but was never completed as intended.

English Frankton

English Frankton, formerly known simply as Frankton, is a small village in Shropshire, England. It lies between the villages of Cockshutt and Loppington, in the civil parish of Cockshutt. The name Frankton probably originated as "Francas's field". It was recorded in Domesday as Franchetone, when it was held by Rainald the Sheriff from Earl Roger. Domesday also noted that the manor contained one carruca, along with three villeins and two bordarii.
