Amble railway station

Amble railway station was the terminus of the Amble branch line, which diverged from the East Coast Main Line at Chevington in Northumberland, Northern England. The branch opened in 1849 and closed to passengers in 1930, leaving Acklington as the nearest station to Amble. The station remained open for goods and coal until final closure in 1969.

Acklington railway station

Acklington railway station serves the village of Acklington in Northumberland, England. The station is located on the East Coast Main Line, although in the May 2010 timetable the only trains calling at Acklington are one northbound and two southbound local services operated on Mondays to Saturdays (and none on Sundays) by Northern Rail, who also manage the station.

Northumberland Astronomical Society

The Northumberland Astronomical Society was founded in 2000 by local amateur astronomers in Northumberland, UK. The society is informally known among its members as "Nastro". The first formal meetings of the society were held in the village hall at Low Hauxley but increasing membership and the support of the Northumberland Wildlife Trust saw meetings move to the visitor centre in the nearby Hauxley Nature Reserve in 2002.

HM Prison Castington

HM Prison Castington is a male juvenile's prison and Young Offenders Institution, located in the village of Acklington in Northumberland, England. The prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service. Castington Prison is the most northerly Young Offenders Institution in England, and is built on the site of the former RAF Acklington airfield.
