Johnshaven

Johnshaven is a coastal village along the North Sea located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is accessed off the A92 coast road that connects Fife and Stonehaven, where it joins the A90 and continues northward to Aberdeen and beyond. About two miles southwest of Johnshaven lies Milton Ness, which includes a red sandstone cliff landform. The flax industry, sailmaking and fishing have historically been an integral part of Johnshaven life and economy.

Benholm Mill

Benholm Mill in Kincardineshire, Scotland, is a restored and fully working water-powered meal mill. It is sited in ancient woodland near Johnshaven (13 miles south of Stonehaven), by the farmlands of Sunset Song country - made famous by local author, Lewis Grassic Gibbon. It featured as Long Rob's Mill in the television serialisation of this novel.

Milton Ness

Milton Ness is a coastal landform along the coast of the North Sea approximately two miles south of the village of Johnshaven, Scotland. This headland feature includes a red sandstone cliff formation. Certain prehistoric features are found in the vicinity of Milton Ness, including the Stone of Morphie located somewhat to the west.

Lauriston Castle, Aberdeenshire

Lauriston Castle stands on a clifftop site near the Aberdeenshire village of St Cyrus and just over a mile inland from the North Sea coast of Scotland. Once a royal fortress, it can claim to be one of the oldest privately owned and inhabited castles in the region. By tradition, it was the stronghold of Giric, Grig or Gregory the Great, one of the last of the Pictish kings (AD 878–889). Gourdon, Aberdeenshire
