Garthland Castle

Garthland Castle was a castle that was located near Garthland Mains, Stoneykirk, Rhins of Galloway, Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The castle was possibly built in AD1211, as a datestone bearing that date has been discovered within the Garthland Mains estate. It would appear that further extensions in AD1274 were undertaken, as another datestone has been re-used within the Garthland Mains estate.

The Rhins of Galloway otherwise known as the Rhins of Wigtownshire is a hammer-head peninsula in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Stretching more than 25 miles from north to south, its southern tip is the Mull of Galloway, the southernmost point of Scotland.

Soulseat Abbey

Saulseat or Soulseat Abbey was a Premonstratensian monastic community located in Inch, Wigtownshire, Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, in the Gaelic-speaking south-west of Scotland. It was regarded as the first and the senior Premonstratensian house in the Kingdom of Scotland. The Obituary of Prémontré lists both King Fergus and Christian, bishop of Galloway (1154-86), as joint founders.
