Coachella Canal

The Coachella Canal is a 122-mile aqueduct that conveys Colorado River water for irrigation from the All-American Canal to the Coachella Valley in Riverside County, California. The canal was completed in 1949 and is currently operated by the Coachella Valley Water District. Construction of the Coachella Canal began in the 1930s by the Six Companies, Inc. , but was interrupted by World War II. After the war, work was resumed on the canal and deliveries of water began in the late 1940s.

Mundo (formerly, Volcano and Volcano Springs) is an unincorporated community in Imperial County, California. It is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 7.5 miles southeast of Frink, at an elevation of 190 feet (58 m) below sea level. The Volcano Springs post office was operated from 1901 to 1902 by Dr. Mundo, from whom the region derives its name.
