Anastasia Island

Anastasia Island is a barrier island which is approximately 18 miles long located off the northeast Atlantic coast of Florida in the United States. The island is located east and southeast of St. Augustine. It is separated from the mainland by the Matanzas River, part of the Intracoastal waterway, Matanzas Bay separates the island from downtown St. Augustine in the north and Matanzas inlet marks the southern terminus of the island.

Matanzas Inlet

Matanzas Inlet is a channel in Florida between barrier islands connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the south end of the Matanzas River. It is 14 miles south of St. Augustine, in the southern part of St. Johns County, at coordinates {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:29|42|21|N|81|13|42|W|type:landmark | |name= }}. The inlet is not stabilized by jettys, and thus is subject to shifting.
