Conley, Georgia

Conley is a census-designated place (CDP) in DeKalb County and Clayton County, Georgia. The population was 6,188 at the 2000 census. The source of the name of the community is unknown. A pioneer settlement family of the surname "Conley" lived in DeKalb County (1850 census). Probably the name of the family was given to the area.

Fort Gillem

Fort Gillem is a United States Army military base located in Forest Park, Georgia, on the southeast edge of Atlanta. Founded in 1941, it was a satellite installation of nearby Fort McPherson. The base houses many different supply and support units including the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory and the 3rd MP Group (CID), both units of the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command. It employs 456 active duty personnel, 1,663 Army reservist, and 1,667 civilians.

Atlanta Assembly

Atlanta Assembly was an automobile factory owned by Ford Motor Company in Hapeville, Georgia. The Atlanta Assembly plant was opened on December 1, 1947. Harbour Consulting rated it as the most efficient auto plant in North America in 2006. As part of The Way Forward plan, the plant was closed on October 27, 2006.
