WBRN (1460 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to Big Rapids, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 1953. WBRN rebroadcasts on FM translator W299BE at 107.7 MHz in Big Rapids, which makes WBRN the first AM station in Michigan to add an FM translator. The March 2008 addition of W299BE had formerly simulcast sister station WYBR.

Ewigleben Arena

The Robert L. Ewigleben Ice Arena (pronounced A-VUH-glabe-in) is a 2,493-seat hockey arena in Big Rapids, Michigan. It is home to the Ferris State University Bulldogs ice hockey team of the CCHA. The building is attached the FSU Sports Complex, which also includes Wink Arena, a volleyball court, a studio ice rink, offices, concessions and meeting space. The Ice Arena also hosts the local high school and junior hockey programs. The arena is named for Dr. Robert L.

Mecosta County, Michigan

Mecosta County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. The county is named after Chief Mecosta, the leader of the Potawatomi Native American tribe that once traveled the local waterways in search of fish and game. Chief Mecosta was one of the signers the Treaty of Washington in 1836. The easily navigated waterways soon led to a boom in lumber industry growth. Workers settled the area in 1851, the county was officially settled and the government officially organized in 1859.
