Clarence Fahnestock State Park

Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park a 14,086 acre (56.3 km) New York state park, in Putnam and Dutchess counties. The park has hiking trails, an environmental center, a beach on Canopus Lake, and fishing on four ponds and two lakes. Most of the park is in northern Putnam County between the Taconic State Parkway and US Route 9. The original land, a donation of about 2,400 acres (9.6 km), was donated in 1929 by Dr. Ernest Fahnestock as a memorial to his brother Clarence.

Lake Oscawana

Lake Oscawana is a lake at the heart of Putnam Valley, New York State, United States. The 386-acre lake has a depth that ranges from 25 feet to 30 feet . The lake is fed by a stream from its north end and it drains through a stream at the middle of its eastern shore. It is nestled in between two hill ranges, which provide spectacular views if you climb one.

Canopus Lake

Canopus Lake is a small lake within Clarence Fahnestock State Park in northern Putnam County, New York, USA. The lake is about 1.5 miles (2.0 km) long and 1/4 mile (0.4 km) wide at its widest point. Immediately to its east is Pelton Pond. The lake is on NY 301 just west of the Taconic State Parkway. The beach at the lake is called the "jewel of the park" and is used for swimming, boating, and fishing. In the winter, some cross-country skiers use the flat surface as a trail.

Nelsonville, New York

Nelsonville is a Hudson Highlands village located in the town of Philipstown in Putnam County, New York, United States. The population was 628 at the time of the 2010 census. Nelsonville is directly east of the village of Cold Spring. On Main Street, the border is roughly demarcated by the western property line of the Baptist Church at the height of land, and by the property line along the rear of the church lot, extending south toward the Cold Spring Cemetery.
