Lake Mohonk

Lake Mohonk is a lake at the northern end of New Paltz, New York, United States, in Ulster County about 14 miles northwest of Poughkeepsie. The small lake, one-half mile (800 m) long and 60 feet deep, is located 1,245 feet above sea level in the towns of Rochester and Marbletown near Sky Top Mountain, at 1,542 feet one of the highest peaks of the Shawangunk Ridge. The peak of Sky Top lies just east of the south end of the lake; to the west, Eagle Cliff rises to a height of 1,412 feet .

Wallkill Valley Rail Trail

The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is a 23.7-mile rail trail and linear park that runs along the former Wallkill Valley Railroad rail corridor in Ulster County, New York. As of 2011, it stretches from Gardiner through New Paltz, crossing the Wallkill River as it reaches Rosendale.

Mohonk Preserve

The Mohonk Preserve is located in the Shawangunk Ridge, a section of the Appalachian Mountains, 90 miles north of New York City in Ulster County, New York, USA. The Preserve is 5 miles west of the Village of New Paltz. The Preserve protects over 7,000 acres of cliffs, forests, streams and ponds, and manages 30 mi of carriage roads and 40 mi of trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and horseback riding.

Tuthilltown Bridge

Tuthilltown Bridge is located in the Town of Gardiner in Ulster County, New York, USA, approximately 1 miles (1.6 km) west of the eponymous hamlet. It carries US 44/NY 55 across the north-flowing Wallkill River just downstream from where it is joined by the Shawangunk Kill, its largest tributary. It is a steel through truss bridge built in 1938 and reconstructed in 1993 The bridge was built to replace a ford, still visible upstream from the bridge.

Carmine Liberta Bridge

The Carmine Liberta Bridge is a two-lane steel through truss bridge over the Wallkill River. It carries NY 299 over the river between the Town of New Paltz on the west side and the Village of New Paltz on the east. It is the only way into the village from that direction. As such, it often carries heavy traffic on weekends between New Paltz and the Shawangunk Ridge. Due to the flood plains on the western side it has been closed in periods of high water on the river.
