New Rockford, North Dakota

New Rockford is a city in Eddy County, North Dakota in the United States. It is the county seat of Eddy County. The population was 1,391 at the 2010 census. New Rockford was founded in 1883. In 1915, residents mounted an unsuccessful challenge to have the state capital relocated from Bismarck to New Rockford.

Central North Dakota Steam Thresher's Reunion

The Central North Dakota Steam Thresher's Reunion is an annual event held in New Rockford, North Dakota every third weekend of September. The event is held on the New Rockford Fairground, and began in 1958. It features rare working steam engines, antique implements, and also many antique tractors. Admission also includes a visit to the on-site pioneer village. The festival has run for nearly fifty years and has led to New Rockford self-proclaiming itself "Steam Capitol of North Dakota".

Eddy County, North Dakota

Eddy County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,385. Its county seat is New Rockford. Eddy County was created by the 1885 territorial legislature from the northern half of Foster County and named for Ezra B. Eddy, a Fargo banker who had died a few weeks earlier. The county government was first organized on April 27, 1885; New Rockford has always been the county seat.
