Salem Sue

Salem Sue (or The World's Largest Holstein Cow) is a large fiberglass Holstein cow sculpture located in New Salem, North Dakota. Salem Sue was built in 1974 for $40,000. The project was sponsored by the New Salem Lions Club in honor of the local dairy farming industry. The statue stands 38 feet high and is 50 feet long. It sits on School Hill near Interstate 94 off exit 127 S and can be viewed for several miles. A road leads up to the base of Sue.

New Salem is a city in Morton County, North Dakota in the United States. It is part of the "Bismarck, ND Metropolitan Statistical Area" or "Bismarck-Mandan". The population was 946 at the 2010 census. New Salem was founded in 1883.

Oliver County, North Dakota

Oliver County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,846. Its county seat and only city is Center. The county was created by the 1885 territorial legislature and was organized on May 18, 1885. It was named for Harry S. Oliver of Lisbon, North Dakota (1855-1909), a Republican politician and member of the Dakota Territory House of Representatives at the time.

Milton R. Young Power Plant

Milton R. Young Power Plant is a coal-fired power plant located in Oliver County, near Center, North Dakota. It consists of 2 units, which went in service in 1970, respectively 1972 and have a generation capacity of 250 MW, respectively 455 MW. The used coal comes from Center Mine. Milton R. Young Power Plant is startpoint of HVDC Square Butte. The smokestack of the station measures 167.64 metres.
