Barnett Shale

The Barnett Shale is a geological formation located in the Bend Arch-Fort Worth Basin. It consists of sedimentary rocks of Mississippian age (354–323 million years ago) in Texas. The formation underlies the city of Fort Worth and underlies 5,000 mi² (13,000 km²) and at least 17 counties. Some experts have suggested the Barnett Shale may have the largest producible reserves of any onshore natural gas field in the United States.

Fort Wolters

Fort Wolters was a United States military installation four miles northeast of Mineral Wells, Texas. Originally named Camp Wolters, it was an Army camp from 1925 to 1946. During World War II, it was for a time the largest infantry replacement training center in the United States. After the war, the camp was deactivated for several years. It became an Air Force base in 1951 with the mission of training Air Force engineers.

Perrin, Texas

Perrin is an unincorporated community in southeastern Jack County, Texas, United States. It has a population of approximately 500, and it is located at the intersection of US HWY 281 and FM 2210. It was established in 1870 and named for Levi W. Perrin, the father of the town's founder Louis Perrin. In the early 20th century, the small town supported two banks and was larger than Jacksboro.
