Spokane County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington, named after the Spokane tribe. As of the 2010 census the population was 471,221, making it the fourth most populous county in Washington state. The largest city and county seat is Spokane, the second largest city in the state, behind Seattle. Spokane County was formed on January 29, 1858. It was annexed by Stevens County on January 19, 1864, and re-created on October 30, 1879.

Episcopal Diocese of Spokane

The Episcopal Diocese of Spokane is a diocese of the Episcopal Church in eastern Washington and North Idaho, United States. Its office and cathedral seat are in Spokane, Washington. The current Bishop is the Right Reverend James Waggoner, Jr. The Diocese of Spokane started as a missionary district in the mid-1860s. One of the earliest missionary priests, the Rev. Lemuel H. Wells, established twenty-three missions in the late 19th century and became the first Bishop of Spokane in 1892.
