Spokane people

The Spokane (or Spokan) are a Native American people in the northeastern portion of the U.S. state of Washington. The Spokane Indian Reservation, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:47|55|42|N|118|02|45|W| | |name= }}, is located in eastern Washington, almost entirely in Stevens County, but includes two very small parcels of land and part of the Spokane River in northeastern Lincoln County.

Midnite Mine

The Midnite Mine is a currently inactive uranium mine in the Selkirk Mountains, about eight miles from Wellpinit, Stevens County, Washington. The mine was listed as Superfund site on 5/11/2000. Located within the reservation of the Spokane Tribe of Indians, the mine was operated from 1955 until 1981 was developed and operated by Dawn Mining Company. Dawn is a subsidiary corporation 49 percent owned by Midnite Mines, Inc.

Harker Canyon (Washington)

For other uses of this place name, see Harker Canyon (disambiguation). Harker Canyon is formed by a tributary of the Spokane River, where it forms the Spokane Arm of Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake, in Lincoln County, Washington, United States. A small portion of the canyon where it empties into the Spokane River is part of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. The remainder of the canyon is private land.

Washington's 5th congressional district encompasses the Eastern Washington counties of Okanogan, Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln, Spokane, Adams, Whitman, Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield, and Asotin.
