Superior, Wisconsin
Superior is a city in, and the county seat of, Douglas County in the US state of Wisconsin. The population was 27,244 at the 2010 census. Located at the junction of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 53, it is north of and adjacent to both the Village of Superior and the Town of Superior. Superior is at the western end of Lake Superior in northwestern Wisconsin. Bordered by Saint Louis Bay, Superior Bay, and Allouez Bay, it is also framed by two rivers: the Nemadji and the Saint Louis.

The Saint Louis River is a river in the U.S. states of Minnesota and Wisconsin that flows into Lake Superior. The largest U.S. river to flow into the lake, it is 192 miles in length and starts 13 miles east of Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota. The river's watershed covers 3,634 square miles . Near the Twin Ports of Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin, the river becomes a freshwater estuary. According to Warren Upham, the Ojibwe name of the river is Gichigami-ziibi (Great-lake River).
