Lai Vung District

Lai Vung is a district (huyện) of Dong Thap Province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 160,125. The district covers an area of 220 km². The district capital lies at Lai Vung. This district is famous for its Mandarin orange which usually ripens in Tết holiday season and for the master craftman of boat in Long Hau commune. Other specialities are nem- a kind of fermented pork and Phong Hoa pomelo.

Can Tho International Airport

Binh Thuy Air Base

Binh Thuy Air Base is a former air force base in Vietnam, It was constructed by the United States in 1965 and used by the South Vietnamese Air Force (SVNAF) and the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in the IV Corps Tactical Zone of South Vietnam. It was seized by the Vietnam People's Army in April 1975 and was abandoned for several decades. Today, the site is being redeveloped as Trà Nóc Airport.

Collapse of Cần Thơ Bridge

The collapse of Cần Thơ Bridge was a severe construction accident in southern Vietnam. The accident occurred at 8 am local time on the morning of September 26, 2007, when a 90 metre section of an approach ramp, which was over 30 metres above the ground, collapsed. There were 250 engineers and workers working on and under the span at the time it collapsed. As of September 27, the number of casualties remains unclear; one source says that there were 52 people dead and 140 injured.
