Veng Abbey

Veng Abbey was one of Denmark's earliest Benedictine monasteries and was located in the village of Veng near Skanderborg, Region of Southern Denmark. The former abbey church, still in use as a parish church, is the oldest remaining in the country.

Illerup Ådal

Illerup Ådal is an archeological site located near Skanderborg, Denmark. The first findings at the river valley Illerup Ådal were revealed in 1950, during the drainage works. The area was excavated from 1950 till 1956 and again in 1975-1985. During the excavations more than 15,000 items, mainly Iron Age weapons and personal equipment from 200-500 AD period were found.

Skanderborg Municipality

Skanderborg Municipality is a municipality in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark, just southwest of Aarhus and is a part of the Aarhus area. It has an area of 436.1 km², and has a total population of 56,636 (2009). Its mayor is Jens Grønlund, representing the Venstre party. Skanderborg is the municipality's main town, and serves as the seat of the municipal council.

Låsby

Låsby is a small town in the province of Jutland in Denmark with a population of 1,861 (1 January 2011). It is situated on the main road between Silkeborg and Aarhus. The town is the location of the flagship property of Det Blå Marked (trans. "The Blue Market"), a chain of Danish antique markets, and which is a major tourist attraction, bringing in over half a million visitors to the town every year.

Skanderborg Festival

The Skanderborg festival is an annual music festival held during the second weekend of August. Its scenic location, in a beech forest in the vicinity of Skanderborg, has given it the name Danmarks Smukkeste Festival ("Denmark’s Most Beautiful Festival"). It covers many styles of music, such as rock, pop, folk, heavy metal, hip-hop and electronic. The first festival was held in 1980 and was a one-day event with 7 bands and about 600 spectators.
