Donjon de Niort
Not to be confused with the Château d'Aniort, near the village of Niort, Aude The Donjon de Niort or Château de Niort (the former is most often used today) is a medieval castle in the French town of Niort in the département of Deux-Sèvres. It consists of two square towers, linked by a 15th century building and dominates the Sèvre Niortaise valley. The two donjons are the only remaining part of the castle. The castle was started by Henry II Plantagenet and completed by Richard the Lionheart.

The Marais Poitevin is a large area of marshland in Western France, a remnant of the former Gulf of Poitou (the name meaning "Poitou's Marsh", "Marsh of Poitou region"). It consists for two thirds of a western zone near the sea called the "dry marsh" (or "dried marsh"), used for farming and breeding, and for one third of an eastern zone called the "wet marsh", a maze of islets criss-crossed by picturesque canals now used for touristic rowboating and nicknamed The Green Venice (la Venise Verte).

Château de Mursay
The Château de Mursay is a ruined 16th century castle in the commune of Échiré, 10 km north of Niort in the Deux-Sèvres département of France. The Château de Mursay was the residence of Agrippa d'Aubigné, grandfather of Madame de Maintenon (née Françoise d'Aubigné). Situated on the banks of the Sèvre Niortaise river, the castle has been bought by the commune to avoid it falling into ruins, the roof having been lost some years ago.
