Kaatje bij de Sluis is a restaurant located in Blokzijl, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that is awarded one or two Michelin stars since 1978 up to 2012, with the exception of 2005. Blokzijl
Blokzijl is a city located southwest of Steenwijk in the province of Overijssel, the Netherlands. Blokzijl grew in the 1580s. During the siege of Steenwijk, the Dutch built there a fortified lock or in local dialect zijl or siel. It received city rights in 1672. Until 1973, it was a separate municipality; it is now part of Steenwijkerland.

Baarlo, Steenwijkerland
Baarlo is a small village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality Steenwijkerland, about 1 km northwest of the city of Blokzijl. Until the Noordoostpolder was reclaimed, the village lay on the dyke of the IJsselmeer. According to the 19th century historian A.J. van der Aa, it had about 120 inhabitants in the middle of the 19th century. It was also called "Kuinderdijk en Baarlo" then.

The Kop van Overijssel has about 43,000 inhabitants and an area of about 322 km², of which a tenth is water. The 'capital' is Steenwijk.
