North Humberside

North Humberside is a former postal county of England. It was introduced by the Royal Mail on 1 July 1974, when some addresses were altered in response to the changes in administration brought about under the Local Government Act 1972. The postal county corresponded approximately to the part of the new non-metropolitan county of Humberside north of the River Humber. All of the post towns included in the North Humberside had formerly been part of the Yorkshire postal county.

Lockington rail crash

The Lockington rail crash occurred on 26 July 1986 at Lockington, Humberside (now in the East Riding of Yorkshire), England, when the 09:33 passenger train from Bridlington to Hull on the Yorkshire Coast Line hit a Ford Escort van on a level crossing. Eight passengers on the train, and a boy of 11 in the van, lost their lives. The van driver was not prosecuted but was blamed at the inquiry into the disaster. The boy who died was his foster son.

Bethells Bridge

Bethells Bridge, a swing bridge on the Driffield Navigation in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The bridge was built to access land cut off after a new section of canal was made. It is now home to many boat moorings, and popular with fishermen.

Struncheon Hill Lock

Struncheon Hill Lock was built as a later addition to the Driffield Navigation in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It improved access to the next section of water during low tide conditions, and is the first lock. It is sometimes known as "Top Hill Low", which is the name of the large pumping station located there.
