Kensington Roof Gardens

The Roof Gardens (formerly known as Derry and Toms Roof Gardens and Kensington Roof Gardens) is a roof garden covering 6,000 m² on top of the former Derry and Toms building on Kensington High Street, in central London, in The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. They have for a long time been the largest roof garden in Europe, but was surpassed by the roof garden on the shopping mall Emporia in 2012. Facilities include a restaurant and club.

Kensington High Street

Kensington High Street is the main shopping street in Kensington, Central London. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. Kensington High Street is the continuation of Kensington Road and part of the A315. It starts by the entrance to Kensington Palace and runs westward through central Kensington. Near Kensington (Olympia) station, where the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea ends and Hammersmith begins, it ends and becomes Hammersmith Road.

Metropolitan Borough of Kensington

The Metropolitan Borough of Kensington was a Metropolitan borough in the County of London from 1900 to 1965. It bordered Chelsea, Fulham, Hammersmith, Paddington, and Westminster It included Kensington, South Kensington, Earls Court, Notting Hill, Brompton and part of Kensal Green. In 1901 it was granted the status of a royal borough, and therefore from then was also known as the Royal Borough of Kensington.
