Tabular Hills

The Tabular Hills are an east-west line of distinct hills on the southern boundary of the North York Moors, running from Scarborough in the east all the way to Black Hambleton in the west. The name refers to their flat tabular shaped summits composed of hard Corallian limestone known locally as "nabs". They form the northern boundary of the Vale of Pickering.

Cropton

Cropton is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the border of the North York Moors National Park, 2 miles north west of Pickering. At the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 254. Cropton Brewery, a microbrewery, is located to the rear of the New Inn on the edge of the village. To the rear is the site of a Motte and Bailey Castle, known as the Round Hill.

Cropton Brewery

The Cropton Brewery is situated in the village of Cropton in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the border of the North Riding Forest Park, 2 miles north west of Pickering. Brewing in Cropton can be traced back to 1613, though those early brews were illegal and those caught ended up in York Goal. Local women helped in the production of the earlier beers, and the 'Ale Wives' as they were known, were often cursed if they produced a bad brew.

Gillamoor

Gillamoor is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of the county of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated about three miles north of Kirkbymoorside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It is an attractive stone-built village typical of the area. Gillamoor is well known for its 'Surprise View'.

Rosedale Abbey

Rosedale Abbey is a village located in a spectacular valley in the centre of Rosedale, North Yorkshire, England, midway between Pickering and Castleton in an area of rolling hillsides and stunning scenery within the North York Moors National Park. The village consists of a collection of stone houses, pubs, a church, an art gallery, tea room, glass studio and the village green. A Cistercian Priory of the same name once stood on the site.
