Cladh Hallan

Cladh Hallan is an archaeological site on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. It is significant as the only place in Great Britain where prehistoric mummies have been found. Excavations were carried out there between 1988 and 2002. In 2001, a team of archaeologists found four skeletons at the site, one of them a male who had died ca. 1600 BC, and another a female who had died ca. 1300 BC. (about the same time as King Tutankhamun of Egypt).

Milton, South Uist

Milton is the name of a tack or tenant farm on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. It was on this tack that Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald (1722-1790) was born and spent her childhood. A memorial dedicated to her stands at the remains of the township.

Eileanan Iasgaich

Na h-Eileanan Iasgaich comprise a small uninhabited archipelago in Loch Boisdale, in the south east of the island of South Uist, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The individual islands are separated from one another at high tide, but connected to one another at low tide, (although not to their much larger neighbour of South Uist). They are around 50 ha in extent and over 20m at their highest point. Their boundaries are ill defined.

Beinn Ruigh Choinnich

Beinn Ruigh Choinnich is a hill which overlooks the port of Lochboisdale on the east coast of the island of South Uist in Scotland. Its name is sometimes given in English as Ben Kenneth, although a literal translation would be King Kenneth's Hill. The origin of the name is unknown. The hill is 275 m in height and can be climbed quite easily.
