Haddo House

Haddo House is a Scottish stately home located near Tarves in Aberdeenshire, approximately 20 miles north of Aberdeen. It has been owned by the National Trust for Scotland since 1979. The Gordons, who later became the Earls of Aberdeen and Marquesses of Aberdeen, have lived on the site for over 500 years.

Formartine

Formartine (Scottish Gaelic: Fearann Mhàrtainn meaning "Martin's land") is a committee area in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This district has a long history and extends north from the River Don. It has a population of 36,478 (2001 Census). Formartine has experienced rapid population growth, particularly around Ellon and Oldmeldrum, and in the south east where development has spread outwith the city of Aberdeen.

Tarves

Tarves is a small Aberdeenshire village, situated in the Formartine area of North East Scotland and lies between Oldmeldrum and Methlick. Much of the village was planned and laid out by the Marquess of Aberdeen in the 19th century but the history of the parish goes back considerably before that. The Community has a heritage group that provides a registered museum and heritage centre. The village is situated very close to Tolquhon Castle.

New Deer

New Deer is a settlement in Aberdeenshire, North East Scotland that lies in the valley of Deer. It was founded after monks from Deer Abbey, Old Deer built a chapel at Auchreddie, which translates as "field of the bog myrtle". Around 1507 the register of Deer Abbey lists its lands in the "new paroche of Deir". The name Auchreddie has dropped in significance over the years, however the southern end of the village is still known by this name.
