Merthyr Cynog

Merthyr Cynog is a hamlet and a community in the county of Powys in mid Wales. The Welsh name signifies the 'shrine of Cynog'. The church, a place of pilgrimage, is dedicated to Saint Cynog, a son of Brychan Brycheiniog. It is situated on the land between the valleys of the Ysgir Fawr and the Ysgir Fach which penetrate northwestwards into the uplands of Mynydd Epynt from the River Usk some miles to the south.

Mynydd Epynt

Mynydd Epynt is an upland area of Mid Wales within the county of Powys, Wales. It is bounded to the south by the upper section of the valley of the River Usk, to the north by that of the Afon Irfon and to the east by the valley of the River Wye. Its western boundary is less distinct but lies eastward of the A483 Llandovery to Llanwrtyd Wells road.

Upper Chapel, Powys

Upper Chapel is a hamlet in the southern part of the county of Powys in mid Wales. It lies on the B4520, Brecon to Builth Wells road in the valley of the Afon Honddu. The south-flowing Honddu cuts deeply into the uplands of Mynydd Epynt north of Brecon. To the north and west of Upper Chapel lies the Army's Sennybridge Training Area (or 'SENTA'). The hamlet lies 3 miles to the north of its sister settlement, Lower Chapel.

Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA)

The Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA) in Powys, Wales, consists of approximately 31,000 acres (12,000 ha) of Ministry of Defence freehold land and 6,000 acres (2,500 ha) of land leased from Forest Enterprise. The Training Area is the 3rd largest military training area in the United Kingdom, It covers 12 miles (19 km) south west to north east and 5 miles (8 km) south east to north west. It lies to the north of the of the Brecon Beacons National Park on Mynydd Eppynt.

Llanfihangel Nant Brân

Llanfihangel Nant Brân is a small village lying next to the Nant Brân river in Powys, Wales about 12km west of Brecon. It is largely a farming community. Llanfihangel includes a church, dedicated to St. Michael, which was probably built in the 16th century and was substantially reconstructed in 1882.
